Apollo Backpack Drive

Apollo employees purchased school supplies such as pens, pencils, notebooks, crayons, rulers, erasers, etc. and filled backpacks to help motivate students in underprivileged areas.

Backpacks and school supplies will be provided to Parents of Watts, Thomas House Family Shelter, Para Los Niños, Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center and others.

We are proud to help make a difference in a child's life!.

Are we there yet? Keeping family car trips entertaining

Nothing derails a family car trip faster than bored kids in the backseat. A well-stocked activity bag can mute the "Are we there yet?" melody from the rear and help you log some serious miles in peace. (The right supplies will make short, everyday car trips easier, too!)

How elaborate your activity bag should be depends on the length of your trip, how many children you'll need to entertain, and their ages and attention spans. These parent- and kid-tested supplies will help you travel without meltdowns.

Tablets, laptops, and smartphones Download plenty of educational and just-for-fun games, music, and movies before leaving home.
A portable DVD player: A surefire sanity-saver on a long trip. If your car isn't equipped with one, you can rent a portable player online.
Educational "talking" toys: Be careful not to bring along anything that makes annoying sounds you wouldn't enjoy listening to in the confined space of a car.
White board and dry-erase pens: Kids can draw, play tic-tac-toe and hangman, or write notes to each other, wipe it all away, and start over.
Magnetized letters, numbers, and shapes: You can buy sets that come with a magnetized playing surface and plenty of fun magnets to manipulate.
Sticker and activity books: Extra great for toddlers. They allow kids to express creativity without using pens on the upholstery.
Crayons or markers: Markers are best for kids 3 and up, crayons for kids under 3. If you're worried about your child drawing on the seats, try Color Wonder markers – they only leave marks on special paper.
A trip notebook: A great way to capture memories of your family's road trip. Your child can draw and place stickers en route, and you can help by adding a few notes about the trip at the end of the day.
Silly Putty: It's cool to stretch and squish and, since it's more elastic than Play-Doh, it's less likely to end up stuck permanently between the seats.
Colored pipe cleaners or Wikki Stix: Make animals, people, jewelry, or just crazy shapes.

Your friends at Apollo wish you safe & fun family travels!
